CONCH - Sashimi style

Not many people know what is a conch (pronounced konk).Conch is a common name for a large sea snails found in warm water throughout US and south america . I'm not sure wheter conch could be found in tropical waters or not but i had encounter almost similar species in sabah . Check out MASMZ blog on SIPUT KAHANGA in sabah.
I had went to Southsea Seafood in Subang for my dinner and had the chance to sample conch - sashimi style . I was told that it can be cooked into different style but it was highly recommended to eat it raw.The meat is a bit tough with a slight sweet taste.It will cost you around RM 13 per 100gm with an average weight between 300 to 500 gram per conch.
As a food source conch has a great nutritional value and is a very high source of protein.I was told that it is also a natural aphrodisiac. The well develop foot muscle of the conch is what provides the sweet white meat .

  4. I've always associated conch with big brutish hawaiians.. aksi yg depa dok tiup sakan tu la LOL. tak pernah plak akak terpikir nak makan.

    tiffa - kalau ikut saya nak tapau kulit siput tu pastu tebuk lubang n main tiup2 ngan anak saya . if you like raw salmon then you would like raw conch.

  7. ooooo kalau makan mentah dah di'slice'kan macam tu boleh larr try... kalau hidang se'jebok' seketul seketul, auwwwww.

    bila makan raw, makan macam tu sahaja ke atau makan cicah dengan kuah? sambal?

    Kalo conch ni ado kek nogori, mesti den cicah conch ni dongan sambal kayu. Eermmmmm... gane eh rasanya kalo wat camtu??

  11. masmz-mano ado eden gelakkan ekau cuma eden ketawa jer. kalo kat malaya org tak panggil conch org panggil king kong . ha ha ha. eden pun toringin gak nak makan sambal kayu ekau , tapi eden rasa mesti ghaso mcm kayu, kah kah kah.

    axim - tiram rasa mcm hanyir sikit n kena letak limau n sos tobasco utk hilangkan rasa hanyir . tapi siput ni tak berbau n sedap dimakan begitu saja
