The whole family went to bukit tinggi for a short family escapade.The decision on choosing bukit tinggi was due to its close proximity to KL.We just want to get out from the fast pace city life into a place where we could relax and unwind.It was off-peak and we got a very good rate of rm238 per night . The food was rather expensive and due to a very limited budget , we went to kampung janda baik which was around 30 minutes driving to have our dinner.At night there was a performance by a group of dancers at the stage in the middle of the hotel compound .
There's nothing much that you can do over here besides golfing,visiting the rabbit farm,japanese garden and few other other activity.What i enjoy the most is waking up early in the morning opening up the window into a very fantastic view of the surrounding forest .
My daughters really enjoy the short stay in bukit tinggi and seeing them happy is enough to make me happy and unwind.

Memancing di Angler Resort , Pulau Indah

Tempat ni kalau tak guna gambar satelit google map rasanya memang takkan jumpa punya . Dah ler signboard pun takde , jalan masuk ke resort pun cuma jalan tanah merah sejauh 3 - 4 km dari main road.Nasib baik ada signal broadband sampai ke resort boleh jugak bukak gambar satelit google map untuk panduan ke resort.Resort ni nak kata cantik sangat takde ler pulak , tapi tempat ni memang sesuai untuk memancing kerana betul betul terletak di antara muara sungai klang dan laut lepas selat melaka.Kawasan laut disekitar pulak agak dalam kerana terletak di kawasan jeti dan kawasan lalu lintas kapal laut.Di kawasan resort pulak ada ditampal gambar ikan2 besar yang berjaya di tangkap di sekitar resort . ikan2 yang ditangkap agak besar jugak terutamanya ikan siakap dan yang besar aku tengok ikan pari seberat 42 kilo. Ikan siakap pulak purata dalam 5 kilo dan yang paling besar ialah 15 kilo.Cuma hari ni nasib agak malang sebab masa sampai di resort air sudah surut dan air mula pasang dalam pukul 4 , cuma dapat ikan duri dan gelama saja.
Bayaran masuk resort ialah 5 ringgit satu joran dan kalau nak berkhemah bayarannya rm15.Kawasan khemah memang redup dan ada disediakan kantin , surau dan tempat mandi. Tetiba rasa teringin pulak nak khemah sebab keadaan disini agak tenang , teduh dan tiupan angin yang agak menyegarkan.selain daripada memancing , tempat ni menjadi tumpuan sukan paramotor.lebih kurang 200 meter dari kawasan resort ni terletak pantai acheh , sesuai untuk piknik dan mandi manda tapi sayang tak sempat nak tangkap gambar.

Pisang raja udang @pisang susu

I was in bukit tinggi just now when i saw a small plantation of this forbidden fruit.Chinese call it "pisang susu" while the malay call it "pisang raja udang".I had never tasted it before and i had never seen anyone selling it also but i'm aware of its existence and the story behind the so called forbidden fruit .The last time i saw it was nearly 25 years ago while living in a kampung in penang.

The legend behind the forbidden fruit is as per below:
"Menurut cerita orang tua tua roh jelmaan pohon pisang raja udang ini telah menolong seorang Putera Raja yang tercedera dalam medan peperangan . . .

Pada suatu masa silam sering berlaku peperangan untuk merebut kuasa dan meluaskan tanah jajahan. Mengikut ceritanya dalam satu peperangan serorang Putera Raja cedera parah dan berjaya menyelamatkan diri daripada musuhnya.

Putera Raja itu bersembunyi di sebuah hutan dan berteduh di bawah sepohon pisang. Oleh kerana lukanya yang parah Putera Raja itu pun jatuh pengsan.

Apabila Putera Raja itu sedar, baginda dapati lukanya telah dirawat oleh seorang gadis. Putera Raja itu berterima kasih kepadanya kemudian pulang ke istananya.

Putera Raja itu dimaklumkan bahawa gadis itu adalah roh jelmaan pohon pisang raja udang itu. Bila Putera Raja itu kembali ke pohon itu didapati pohon itu berbuahkan pisang berwarna merah kesan daripada darahnya.

Oleh kerana terhutang budi, Putera Raja itu mengisytiharkan kepada rakyatnya bahawa mereka tidak dibenarkan memakan pisang raja udang atau menebang pohonnya !!"

Kalau nak makan ikan bakar segar , murah dan ada tempat melepak yang best
tempat yang paling best kat selangor ni tak lain dan tak bukan ialah di Aroma ikan bakar . Dulu tempat ni mcm chokia je tapi sekarang dah banyak sangat perubahan dari segi servis dan quality makanan.Bahkan tempat ni dah jadi famous sampai kalau pergi pukul 6 dan keatas keadaan akan jadi sesak sebab terlalu ramai pengunjung.Cuba bayangkan menu yang aku order macam dalam gambar dibawah semuanya cuma rm150 sahaja,ikan stim kerapu yang aku order tu beratnya dalam 2kilo setengah .kalau beli mentah kat pasar harganya dalam 26-30 sekilo, maknanya harga ikan mentah saja dah dekat 65 ringgit.Jadi kalau dicampur dengan menu2 yang lain yang aku order seperti udang cili , sotong celup tepung,sayur kailan , pari bakar , siput pahat masak cili dan minuman harga rm 150 memang amat berbaloi.Tempat ni terletak di Jeram di daerah kuala selangor.Nak ke tempat ni senang jer , sampai saja di masjid jeram dari kuala selangor masuk simpang kanan dan jalan terus sampai kawasan pantai.kedai ni betul kat hujung pantai.kalau nak pergi tempat ni aku suggest kena sampai dalam pukul 5.30ptg dan lepak tgk sunset sebab pemandangan sunset kat sini memang menarik.

Aarrghhh eerrrrgghhh aaarrrgghhh , don't know what to write . I\'ve been scratching my head for almost an hour hoping that it would trigger and release some hidden neuron responsible for generating ideas but to no avail.

Just enjoy the photo for this entry which i took in bukit melawati and taman ikan air tawar kuala selangor.There is a tram at the foothill which will take you to both places and it will only cost you rm 3 , pretty cheap huh!.Do check on the following link if you need more info on bukit melawati especially on the historical aspect of it.Overall this place is ok and a great place to bring your family over the weekend.

Daun Beremi atau nama saintifiknya sesuvium portulaca boleh dikategorikan sebagai antara makanan tradisi yang semakin pupus sekarang ni.Kalau di KL boleh dikatakan memang tak wujud langsung daun ni , kalau tanya orang kampung pun mungkin ada yang tak mengenali daun ini. Daun ini sebenarnya tumbuh meliar menjalar di pesisir pantai dan di katakan mempunyai banyak khasiat khasnya asma dan dapat menghilangkan ketagih merokok.setakat mana kebenarannya tak dapat dipastikan tapi itulah petua orang tua tua.Daun ini boleh dibuat ulam , dimasak ataupun kalau jenis jeruk boleh dibuat secara kerabu untuk dimakan sebagai pembuka selera.Rasanya agak sedap jugak tapi susah nak cakap rasa original dia macam mana sebab sudah di buat jeruk.Produk ini diedarkan oleh persatuan nelayan kuala kedah , selain daripada kuala kedah tak pasti dekat mana lagi boleh dapat produk ini.

Daging landak - porcupine meat

Recently a friend of mine had given me a small portion of porcupine meat from his hunting trip in johor. I was delighted as i had always wonder how the raw meat look like.The skin of the porcupine was thick at around 3 mm with a distinctive pattern on it.The meat was cut in small pieces and added with tumeric powder, garlic , ginger , curry powder and it was deep fried.

The texture was extra smooth and very soft.In fact it was softer that chicken meat.For me it was very delicious but i can't say the same for the rest of my family. The don't have the stomach for it due to its strong flavour and smell.The taste was very distinctive and there was no other comparison for it.I had eaten porcupine meat before , cooked rendang style but the flavour of the spices was intense and it had overshadow he original flavour of the meat.Another first for Xplorer.

Gerai Pak Usop - Gulai patin tempoyak, Temerloh , Pahang

The whole family had develop a craving for gulai ikan patin, particularly gulai ikan patin pak usop. We were willing to travel nearly 2 hours just for it and every time we will "tapau" and make sure our supply of gulai ikan patin will last us for one week.I hate durian and i hate tempoyak even more . My father had offered me rm1000 if i could finish off a whole durian which i immediately reject , even at rm10000 i would still reject .At rm100k i will consider but not guarantee and at 1 million i will give it a try , he he.So the fact that i had a craving for gulai masak tempoyak defied logic.I guess it was one of those unsolved mystery of the universe.He he.

A bowl of patin will cost you rm 8 ringgit and for your info this is the normal patin sangkar . The expensive version of this fish is patin buah which will cost you anywhere between 30 to 70 ringgit per piece . I haven't tasted patin buah before and it wasn't available at gerai pak usop , but i had seen it before at Pekan Sari Temerloh and it was very expensive , very rare and in very high demand.

The texture of ikan patin is very soft with a smooth texture. Some people prefer the tail section but my personal favourite is the belly section.The belly flesh is extra smooth and fatty which make it premium.The gravy is yellowish and a bit spicy.Do give it a try and you will understand why i love this dish so much but do come early as this stall tend to get overcrowded all the time and especially more during lunch hours.

The family was in Temerloh yesterday for lunch at gerai pak usop (gulai tempoyak ikan patin) when we decided to extend our journey to Tasik Bera , about 67km from Temerloh.The road was windy and scenic traversing malay village alongside Pahang river .I was driving and at the same time daydreaming about riding my harley bike navigating the sometime sharp s bend . Daydreaming while driving is dangerous but sometime it makes the long journey more fun and interesting.

Bera Lake (Tasik Bera in Malay) is a natural freshwater lake system, located in southwest Pahang, Malaysia in the saddle of the main and eastern mountain ranges of Peninsular Malaysia, extending 35 km long and 20 km wide, drainings into the Pahang River.
As the largest freshwater swamp in Peninsular Malaysia, Tasik Bera or Bera Lake remains both a unique and remote wetland wilderness. Surrounded by a patchwork of dry lowland dipterocarp forests, the lake environment includes islands of peat swamp forests. Rich in wildlife and vegetation, the ecosystem which supports a diversity of a nimal and plant life, and sustains the livelihood of the Semelai branch of the Orang Asli people inhabiting the wetlands.
It has been protected under the Ramsar Convention since November 1994, which allows traditional use of the area to continue. The core zone consists of 260 km² and the buffer zone of 275 km².

Arguably the best laksa in malaysia .The laksa is amazing and couple this with the fact that the stall is nestled in a scenic traditional malay village in kampung perlis balik pulau make this place the number one spot for laksa.A bowl of laksa will cost you rm 2.50 , quite cheap if you take into consideration the generous portion per serving.In KL i believe it will cost you between 5-8 ringgit fora good quality laksa per bowl.
Before you reach this place you will be mesmerise by the scenic view of the paddy field and further up there is pasir panjang beach which i will blog in my next entry.

I was xploring area around tanjung karang when i spotted a group of swallow doing low level areial manouver. I was a very difficult shot as the birds were flying at such a high speed and their small size made it very difficult to focus . I set my camera into high speed drive and in no time i maxxed out my 8 gig memory card . Within half an hours i took a total of 500 shot with a success rate of only 2%.

Daging angsa ni kalau dibuat sup memang paling sedap kalau nak dibandingkan dengan jenis masakan yang lain. Tapi sebelum di masak , daging angsa perlu di kukus terlebih dulu kalau tak daging akan terlalu keras untuk dimakan.Tekstur daging angsa memang sesuai di buat sup sebab isinya agak liat sikit.Terbaek!!!

I\'m very sure not many of you had ever tasted goose meat before. I had been searching for goose meat for sale for quite some time now and i had never imagine that it was located just a few kilometer from my house.It was extremely difficult to find goose meat , i had google the net for supplier and most of them is out of stock.Lastly i went to the veterinar department in sungai buloh and they had given me the contact number of of a breeder which coincidently located not far from my house.

The cost per bird is quite expensive also at rm250 but i\'m willing to close one eyes on the cost as these bird is very hard to come by . Not satisfied with just eating the goose , i requested to be involved in the whole process.From catching the geese , slaughtering and cutting the meat itself.I bring in the whole family to watch the entire process as i want to expose my kids on the reality of life - your average kentucky fried chicken and mcdonald
does not came ready made from the supermarket. To my suprise even my wife had never seen an animal being slaughtered.

I could see a significant difference between goose and other poultry. The skin of a geese is thicker with less fat.The flesh is a bit darker and look more or less like a beef.The feather of a goose is significantly more than other poultry which make the process of removing the feathers more difficult.To actually involve in the whole process is really a satisfying experience and it make me more appreciative on whatever is being serve on my plate.Will blog later on the taste.

Bukannya senang nak jumpa kerang saiz xxl macam ni .5 ketul saja beratnya dah lebih 600gram.Harganya pulak rm 26 ringgit sekilo dan diimport khas dari australia.Isinya agak keras dan liat dan secara perbandingan dengan kerang tempatan , kerang tempatan lebih lembut dan manis isinya.Another first for Xplorer.

I had travel 100 km from sungai buloh to sekinchan yesterday to find the origin of the famous ikan bakar sekinchan only to be told by the local people that it was located in shah alam.

"kak tumpang tanya , ikan bakar sekinchan yang famous tu kat mana kak?"

Damansara pun ada jugak kedai dia"

I guess this is a classic case if you go to Bandung on the pretext of finding the origin of mee bandung and sirap bandung only to be told that there's no such thing by the local people.Out of frustration and after a tip off on the existence of a famous mee udang in sabak bernam , i had continue my journey to bagan nakhoda which was around 30km from sekinchan.

From the main road , it will took you another 10 km before you reach the beach.The area was a bit secluded and a haven for photographer like myself. The estuary was teeming with wildlife and plus this with the sight of sampan/boats navigating up and down the estuary , a purfffeectttt!!! Setting for a photoshoot.

There are few stall selling food here but the famous among all is the mee udang banjir.It cost me only rm5.50 per plate , the taste is ok but cannot lawan the mee udang gertak sanggul penang.

My mom had been temporarily discharged from the sungai buloh hospital. Her case had been refered to PPUM hospital and doctor said that there is a possibility of her readmission pending review from the ENT specialist in PPUM.

Snake in da house

Not everyday you could see an event like this one.I spotted a cobra in the middle of my house compound trying to swallow my beloved pet frog.Lucky my "paman ular" was around and in just a few minutes the the snake was swiftly subdued by him using his bare hand.The cobra was later released at the nearby forest.I do not believe in killing of an animal unless if you don't have a choice.Deforestation by human had caused a clash between the animal world and human .Encounter like this one is not uncommon especially in a new housing estate like mine.The only casualty for today is our pet frog. The same frog was featured in a few of my blog posting previously.RIP my frog.

Mother admitted to hospital

My mother had been admitted to hospital since wednesday due to difficulty in breathing . The main reason of writing this blog is to share and immortalised my life experience and i'm glad that i did it.Looking back at my past blog entry i feel that i had done my best in spending quality time with my mother and family.I have no regret looking back.Semoga semuanya selamat.

ARRGGHHHH EEERRRGGGHHHHH , must work , must pay bills , must feed family . I wish i could stop working for at least 3 month and do what i love the most and spend time with my family . I do envy those MAT SALLEH who just quit their work and embark on an adventure of a lifetime . Still a very long long way to go before my retirement , how i wish i could retire tomorrow.

Gulai Asam Rom

The quest for exotic food had brought me to Raub today.This traditional dish was so rare that you can only find it in Raub and Jerantut . The main ingredient of this dish which had made it so special and rare is rubber seed. Yup!!, natural rubber seed .I was told that the rubber seed is crushed and left to dry before it is pickled for a period of one month.This pickled rubber seed is then added with fish and other ingredient before being made into gulai asam rom.Besides natural rubber seed , "buah perah" was also used as substitute as it was readily available and easier to process.The taste is quite unique with a combination of peppery hot, bitter and sour but generally it was delicious.Do try it whenever you passed by bandar raub or jerantut.

Gulai asam rom ikan keli.I was told that ikan kenerak is more suitable with this dish.

Tomorrow had been declared as Hari Raya .My wife had been very busy finishing her last batch of cookies and cakes for tomorrow while my parents was busy preparing for a " makan besar" which will be held tomorrow night at their house.They had invited our close relative and the main menu for tomorrow is "mee udang".
My sister and her family was present at my father house just now to break their fast as well to celebrate the coming of syawal tomorrow.JR was very busy and active playing with her cousin that she almost forgot my present .It was fun and fulfilling to see her happy playing especially on the hari raya eve.The climax for the day is playing fireworks and we really enjoy it very much.Hari Raya eve will not be the same without the explosives sound of the fireworks.

Buruk benar rupa ikan ni tapi sebenarnya isinya sedap dan lembut.Namanya ikan LUMI dan sebenarnya susah jugak nak mencari ikan jenis ni di pasar . Kalau mengikut tokey ikan, ikan ni jenis ikan dasar laut dalam dan biasanya ikan ini ditangkap sekali ketika menjaring ikan jerung di laut dalam .Setakat mana betulnya cerita dia aku pun tak pasti tapi mungkin betul jugak.Ikan ni sebenarnya murah je , dalam 5 ringgit sekilo.Mungkin sebab rupanya yang buruk sebab tu kurang mendapat perhatian dari pembeli.Biasanya ikan ini digoreng bersama dengan tepung disebabkan teksturnya yang terlalu lembut.Kalau goreng begitu saja dengan kunyit kebarangkalian besar isinya akan hancur . Kalau buat sup atau masak asam pedas pun sedap jugak tapi aku belum pernah cuba lagi.

Next week muslim all over the world will be celebrating hari raya.Celebrating hari raya as a kid is wayyyyyyyy much fun than being an adult.I had spend most of my time as a kid living with my grandparent in a small coastal malay village in penang. Nowadays the village is no more as it had been develop into an apartment and both of my grandparent had passed away long time ago.
Normally during this time around especially in the last week before hari raya , there will be beehive of activity of people making preparation for hari raya.The houses was not far apart from each other and you could literally see and smell what your neighbour is doing.Normally during this time around my grandmother will be busy making kuih bahulu (a malaysian version of muffin) and her neighbour will be busy making bengkang the traditional way using a home made stove with fire from the husk of the coconut.At night, apart from the terawih , most of the houses was lit with panjut-panjut(home made kerosene lamp) and the air was filled with a burning sulfur smell from the fireworks .Back then there was no blanket ban on firework and you could buy them almost everywhere and my late grandfather would spend quite a lot of money on fireworks.One or two days before hari raya , the celebration intensifiy before reaching its climax on the hari raya itself.
It was a stark contrast in what i experience living in KL.It sadden me a bit because my kids won't be able to experience what i had experience but i will make the best of what i have so that they will have a good lasting memory on celebrating hari raya with their parent.My wife had started making cookies for hari raya and last night we had lit up our panjut-panjut at our compound.The kids are equally excited , my eldest daughter could be seen jumping in excitement as i guess it was the first time seeing such thing.She was equally busy at the kitchen helping or rather messing around with mommy .The atmosphere was rather festive and we do enjoy ourselves.I had manage to buy some fireworks although it's illegal but please don't spread the words, he he.Well that's all for today.Will update more if i could find the time.Selamat hari raya maaf zahir batin.

My daughter was hysterical upon seeing her first ostrich . I never see her getting so excited like this before . Even month after visiting this place she persistently requested to see the video recording that i made at this place.Actually this place was bit let down , the ostrich was not aplenty and the quality and quantity of the display animal was below my expectation.But my daughter enjoy it very much and that matter me the most.
Ostrich Show Farm is located on the 9th mile of the Port Dickson coastal road, quite easy to find if you are driving along the coastal road. The entrance was RM8 for adults and RM6 for kids, quite expensive if you compare the quality and quantity of the display animal.
The main reason i was there not see the ostrich but to sample the famous sate ostrich and to buy the ostrich egg.The sate was sold at rm 12 per half dozen(need to check back as i can't recall the exact price) and it was really delicious.This was the first time that i had tasted sate ostrich and didn't expect that it could be this good.The texture was really soft and more or less it taste a bit like chicken but better.Raw ostrich meat was also sold here but too bad i didn't bring an ice box . I was told by one of the traimer that they didn't have a breeding program for ostrich here , most of their meat supply came from a farm in semenyih , previously they also sold ostrich egg here at a price of rm80 per piece but the supply is inconsistent and hard to find.

From a distance i know that this place must be special. You hardly ever find a restaurant which sell cendol as their main dish . You can only find cendol and rojak(or pasembur) here and nothing else.

Haji Shariff's Cendol & Catering Sdn Bhd was once operated as a small stall in Lake Garden. Business started since 1940. It's now operates to a big and airy shop painted in green and run by 3rd generation. Haji Shariff Cendol is very well know by the people in seremban.It's very crowded during lunch hour especially on weekends as it offers its customers something very special and delicious - Cendols and Rojak.

I guess this had made them a specialist as they had been selling cendol for decade and nothing else.The cendol is creamy and so far among the best that i had tasted so far. The rojak is also not bad although the one in SS15 subang jaya is better.

The whole family went to Seremban recently before the start of ramadhan to unwind . Most of you would wonder , what had seremban got to offer.I had ask the same thing to my colleague who had work in seremban for almost 5 years and he replied

To enjoy seremban you must have an open mind and see things from a different angle.Just forget that you're local and imagine that you are in a foreign land and slowly immerse in the idea , close your eye and then open back with a fresh look and believe me that things will be a bit different.It works everytime for me .

We stayed at the Klana Resort which was located in the heart of seremban . The rate per night was rm160 and for me it was a value for money hotel.The room was clean and spacious enough c/w wifi , the swimming pool was big and furthermore the hotel is nestled right in the middle of taman tasik seremban . KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and AirAsia will swap shares in a surprise deal which will see Tan Sri Tony Fernandes becoming the single biggest shareholder.

Khazanah Nasional Bhd, which owns over 17% of MAS, is said to have concluded negotiations with Fernandes to come up with a deal to save the national carrier.

Sources said the deal, which was struck last week after negotiations over the past year, became urgent after MAS' poor showing in the last two quarters.

Fernandes is set to get 20% of MAS equity under the deal that is to be signed next week, with some sources saying it has already received the Government's approval and could be inked by tomorrow.

Industry players expressed surprise at the deal because of past animosity between the management of the two airlines.

Those who were aware of the negotiations were also surprised at the speed at which it was concluded.

At present, Khazanah, a strategic investment company, holds about 17% stake in MAS, and under the deal with Tune Air Sdn Bhd, it will get a similar stake in AirAsia. Fernandes and his co-founder partner Datuk Kamarudin Meranun hold 26.28% in the world's biggest budget airline.

Fernandes declined to comment when asked about the deal.

Insiders in both airlines confirmed that the negotiations concentrated on the synergy such a share swap would bring.

First, there will be rationalising of routes. Between them, the two airlines cover most of the lucrative routes from Asia to Europe.

Second, when they are seen as a single unit, their bargaining power with airports and aircraft manufacturers will double, said a source close to the deal.

He pointed to the recent move to merge SapuraCrest Petroleum and Kencana Petro-leum via a share swap as an example for the AirAsia-MAS deal.

Insiders said it was unlikely the two airlines would merge into a single unit, but would operate though separate managements at operational level, while sharing common directors and policies.

Malaysia will get the best of both worlds a premier full-service carrier in MAS and the best budget carrier in AirAsia.

“They have been competing with each other for too long, and it's time to work together because there is more than enough to go around,” said a senior government official.

The official added that the “feud” between the two had been going on for 10 years since Fernandes and others took over the ailing AirAsia from DRB Hicom.

AirAsia is twice as big as MAS in terms of market capitalisation. MAS is worth about RM5.3bil, while Fernandes' outfit is worth slightly more than RM11bil.

AirAsia stocks closed at RM3.95 per share yesterday while MAS' was at RM1.60.

A news portal, The Malaysian Insider, which broke the story of the deal yesterday, reported that Fernandes would likely appoint Khazanah's executive director of investments Mohd Rashdan Mohd Yusof as chief operating officer after the share swap. Rashdan already sits on the MAS board.

Sources said no decision was made about the position of MAS CEO Tengku Datuk Azmil Zahruddin.

MAS recorded a first quarter net loss of RM242.3mil against a profit of RM310.6mil in the same period last year. Analysts expect the national carrier to make full-year operating losses due to high fuel costs and falling yields.

In contrast, AirAsia recorded a first quarter profit of RM171.9mil for this year and a record RM1.5bil in profits for 2010.

Sources said the merger would also force the two airlines to take stock of their future aircraft purchases if they are to enjoy any synergy.

AirAsia purchased 200 Airbus A320 aircraft earlier this year with an option to buy another 100, while MAS was set to make a decision on the replacement aircraft for its Boeing 747 and 777 fleet, which is more than 20 years old.

I had the chance to see something beautiful just now. Maybe this is just GOD way of showing me how lucky i am to blessed with so many things and the need to contribute more to the society.I had known mr X and Y for few years now and i'm very sure that both of them is not financially well of.I had a few time visited their rented house which was modest in size and appearance. Despite all that they would make it a point every ramadan to contribute to an orphanage located not far from my office.
I was overwhelm with guilt and humility when i saw their act of generosity . I had always push and set target to myself that before i reach a certain age i must have a certain amount of money , i must travel to 100 country , i must have property for investment and etc.But what was lacking was the giving part.Majority of the goal that i set are towards what i want and almost nil in the giving part.Masyaallah....

Caviar telur ikan sembilang

I've tested caviar before but i don't quite enjoy the taste. A poor man alternative to caviar is the "telur ikan sembilang". Most malaysian would savour it either through masak asam pedas or curry. I had always believe that in order to savour the orignal flavour of a fish or seafood , one must either eat it raw , steam or boil it without any additional flavouring.This could explain the reason why i love sashimi so much.
The real challenge in cooking your food this way is finding it really fresh which would prove almost impossible especially if you live in kl.If the raw material is not fresh then it would be a disaster.
To cook it is very simple , wash the roe clean with asam jawa to wash away the "hanyir" and add a pinch of salt to it and then boil it. The difficult part is controlling the fire as you do not want your fish roe to be solid hard as it will taste like plastic.The ideal state is when the roe is not very soft and not very hard , the texture must be soft and at the same time chewy.This will give a very rich and creamy flavour .I had perfected this cooking art through years of trial and error. Believe me getting the right texture and making sure that the roe doesn't break is not easy as it seems.Telur ikan sembilang will cost you rm 25 per kg in kuala selangor.There are other type of fish roe available especially ikan mayong which will cost you rm 10 per kg . But it won't taste as good as ikan sembilang and furthermore it taste a bit hanyir.

Quaint and full of history.That was my first impression as i drove into Sungai Lembing.The shoplot seems deserted except for those located in the main road , i feel as though i had travel back in time.Almost every structure is screaming wanting to tell their part of the story, indeed this place is full of historical fact and story.Too bad my camera battery went flat halfway and the below picture are only a small portion of what this small town had to offer.The best way to xplore this town is by bicycle which you could rent out at a very small fee.

Sungai Lembing is a tin mining town 42 km northwest of Kuantan in Pahang, Malaysia. Lembing is Malay for spear, and "sungai" means river. Per local legend, the local ruler saw a vision of a spear in the nearby river and thus named his town after this vision.
Until the 1970s, Sungai Lembing was a major producer of underground tin. Sungai Lembing town developed in the 1880's when the British set up the tin mining industry, although the history of mining in this area extends much further back. From 1891, the Pahang Consolidated Company Limited, (PCCL), which was under British control, had a 77-year lease to mine the area. PCCL managed the mine from 1906 until its liquidation in 1986 when world tin prices collapsed.

Your visit to kuantan will not be complete if you don't drop by to tanjung lumpur.Tanjung lumpur is famous for its ikan bakar or specifically ANA IKAN BAKAR PETAI.The first time i had heard about this place was through a blogger friend of mine and i had thought that it was just like any ikan bakar stall that i had visited across malaysia.But i soon find out that this place was quite unique in a sense that PETAI was not only part of the name but the famous stinking petai was the main ingredient of the ikan bakar .
The aroma of the stinking petai couple with the sweet sambal was like YING and YANG , opposite of one another yet complement each other perfectly in a circle.The petai gave a subtle bitter taste and the sambal gave a sweet and spicy taste.Combine all the flavour you'll get a masterpiece.
The seafood is fresh and reasonably price . The only disadvantage was this place tends to get overcrowded so you have to get there early.

Lepas breakfast pagi tadi ingatkan nak singgah sebentar ke east coast mall yang terletak bersebelahan dengan hotel, tapi anak pulak buat hal jadi terpaksa batal sebab terlalu excited sampai tak nak dengar cakap. Bertolak dari hotel dalam pukul 1230 sebelum singgah di kedai pak usop di bandar temerloh untuk makan ikan patin masak tempoyak.Ramai pulak pengunjung ke bandar temerloh hari ni sampai nak makan pun kena q panjang . Masa nak balik ternampak pulak durian raja udang kat tepi jalan , harga pun boleh tahan jugak @ 12 ringgit sekilo.Beli dua bijik sebelum meneruskan perjalan balik. Sekarang ni baru sangat-sangat sampai rumah.Cerita penuh n gambar psal trip ke kuantan akan keluar dalam 3-4 hari lagi .so wait for my blog post...

Letih betul semalam . Dari pagi sampai malam berjalan . Anak2 pun sampai dah mula meragam semalam.lepas breakfast semalam kami terus bergerak ke daerah beserah untuk tengok kampung nelayan tradisional . Aku diberitahu yang kampung ini masih mengamalkan kaedah lama dalam penangkapan ikan dan masih menggunakan kerbau untuk menarik sampan dan hasil ikan untuk ke darat . Pusing punya pusing masih tak jumpa kampung nelayan. Sebelum meneruskan perjalanan kami singgah di pantai batu hitam dan pantai balok.
Selepas berehat kami meneruskan perjalanan ke muzium perlombongan sungai lembing . Kawasan ni mmg menarik sebab keadaan pekan dia seperti zaman dahulu.Dari sungai lembing kami ke gua charas dan kemudian makan malam di kedai ana ikan bakar petai di tanjung lumpur . Perrgghhh sedap betul ikan bakar ni tapi kena datang awal sebab ramai pengunjung. Sekarang ni tengah breakfast sebelum meneruskan perjalanan ke temerloh untuk makan ikan patin dan seterusnya balik .

I will be going for a short holiday in kuantan this week.Things are very-very tight at the office right now, i need a time off to relax and rejuvenate myself.I will be staying at zenith hotel in kuantan and there is a possibility that i will met my old school mate there. The madrasah where i used to play with din puting
my late granparent house

I used to live with my grandparent in a small kampung in penang. Growing up in a kampung was very exiciting and full of adventure . Our spare times was filled with activity upon activity. In the morning when the tides was high we would go fishing or horse shoe crab hunting . In the evening when the weather was hot we would lepak in the shades in BUKIT DUMBAR which was only a stone throw away from my grand parent house.Life was good back then without any worries in the world.I guess the spirit of xploring in xplorer was inculcated during these period of times.

I am the grandson of the kampung pak imam . But my behaviour back then does not reflect my late grandfather stature. I mixed with a diverse lot of people from the local kampung gangster to a mental retard which we nicknamed DIN PUTING.

Din puting lived not far from my grandfather house and if i'm not mistaken he lived in one of the squatter houses which was built directly above the sea(not sure on the exact terms for this kind of houses).As a kid i used to teased him as he would always kept a pacifier(puting) in his pocket whenever he went for a prayer in the kampung madrasah and that's how we nicknamed him DIN PUTING. He was very poor and if i'm not mistaken he was the only child with an ageing parent . The last time that i met him was two years back during hari raya and that was after nearly 18 years since we last met. Suprisingly he still recognised me and he told me that i was the grandson of the late pak imam.I feel touched by his gesture and physically he doesn't look fit . It was hari raya with people around him in their glitzy clothing and there was DIN PUTING with his faded baju melayu . I was told back then that his parent had passed away and his been living with his aunty .

4 days back , i was told by my parents that he had passed away due to an accident . According to my parent he had been hit by a car while crossing the road. I had known that he had poor eyesight and probably his eyesight had deteriorated over the years and he did not see an incoming car .

I am not related in any way to him but yet deep inside i feel a deep loss by his demised . We had led a different life but there was a point where our lives met and looking back at where i am now and what he had gone through in life made me feel how lucky i am to be alive with my family . Indeed there was a HIKMAH in his demised and although he had led a difficult life in this world i believe there is a special place for people like him in the heaven. AL- FATIHAH...

Sebenarnya ni kali pertama dapat beli daging arnab mentah seekor.Susah jugak sebenarnya nak cari daging arnab , itu pun kebetulan tanya kat kedai pet store yang jual arnab , owner dia pun buat jualan arnab daging tapi on request basis saja .Arnab yang ditempah akan disembelih pada hari yang sama sebelum di hantar ke rumah pelanggan. Harga seekor ialah rm 35 dan berat lebih kurang satu kilo.Daging arnab tidak di nafikan memang sedap walaupun isinya agak liat tetapi tidak seliat isi ayam kampung . Susah nak jumpa punya pasal aku beli dua ekor , untuk dimasak 2 jenis masakan . Untuk kali ni aku cuma goreng kunyit camput bawang, memang best gile .Confirm lain kali aku nak beli lagi

Ramai yang tak tahu yang hati ikan cencaru sebenarnya boleh dimakan dan rasanya pun fuhh!! Tersangatlah sedap seakan hati ikan pari yang lembut dan enak tu.Bagi orang-orang bandar , dah tentu tak tahu akan kewujudan hati ikan cencaru ni.Even mak mentua aku pun tahu.Selalunya balik je dari pasar lepas beli ikan terus dicuci dan dibuang perut sekali dengan hatinya sekali.Bayangkan kalu orang veteran macam mak mentua aku pun tak tahu ,ni kan orang-orang muda macam korang.Tapi XPLORER memang tahu ler benda2 macam ni.

Nak kenal hati ikan cencaru senang , biasanya hati ini akan terlekat sekali dengan telur ikan dan bentuknya seakan-akan hati ayam.Tekstur hati ikan juga mirip seperti hati ayam.Bagi yang tak biasa,selalunya hati ini akan di buang sekali dengan perut ikan.Hati ikan ni lembut , jadi semasa hendak mengasingkan hati dan perut kenalah berhati-hati sebab ianya mudah hancur.

Cara nak memasaknya pun sangatlah senang.Cuma perlu kisar serai,bawang putih dan halia kemudian dicampurkan bersama hati ikan..oh ya jangan lupa letak kunyit.Kalau nak rasa pedas sikit , boleh letak sekali sedikit cili mesin.Perap seketika dan kemudia bolehlah di goreng dengan api sederhana masak sehingga gasik.Benda ni best kalau digaul dengan nasik panas.Kalau teringin nak rasa hati ikan ni, tuan2 dan puan2 hendaklah proses ikan ni kat rumah ye...kalau suruh penjual ikan yang proses , alamatnya tak merasa ler......selamat mencuba :-)

I had queu for 2 hours yesterday to purchase an IPAD 2 at sunway pyramid.The ipad was selling like pisang goreng panas that in just 3 hours after the store was open , all the IPAD was snapped out and i could visibly see the frustration on some of the people who turn up late.

sunyi betul tempat ni .itu antara ungkapan pertama yang keluar dari mulutku bila pertama kali menjejakkan kaki ke tasik kenyir.tempat ni tak dinafikan cantik dengan kawasan tasik sejauh mata memandang. Cuma terdapat 2 famili sahaja termasuk famili aku di seluruh kawasan resort.Sudahlah chalet terletak berasingan antara suatu sama lain,bila tiba waktu malam suasana jadi agak sepi dan agak spooky ditambah dengan bunyi unggas dan serangga.Kalau nak bermalam disini pastikan anda bawak makanan lebih sebab makanan hotel agak mahal dan tiada alternatif lain untuk beli makanan.

Aktiviti kat sini banyak tapi malang bagi aku sebab 2 hari berturut2 hujan . Kalau nak hilang stress tempat ni memang sesuai,chalet pun agak luas dan selesa cuma yg tak best makanan hotel agak mahal dan terhad.

My eldest daughter had finally accepted the presence of her younger sister . It had been a tough journey for me and my wife initially as she would constantly cry and would not let us attend to her younger sister. My wife had shed tears because of this and the sight of our eldest daughter kissing her sister bring cheers to the whole family . I'm very sure that most of you especially the malay haven't heard about century egg . Most of you would have seen it at the supermarket but choose to ignore it . Physically it look abit weird with its blackish colour and strong stinky odour.Difficult to explain the taste in words but it's more a less like a combination of stinky aged cheese and spoiled egg. Maybe i'm over exaggerating the facts over here but you have to taste it to believe it . Honestly it's an acquired taste and it's not for everybody. For me the taste is not that bad and i could eat it raw . I'm not sure how the chinese would eat it but for XPLORER, balun ajelah . Another been there done that for Xplorer.

Apsal ler tempat ni selekeh sangat , itulah ungkapan pertamaku bila menjejakkan kaki buat pertama kali ke Kolam Air Panas Ulu Slim yang terletak di Slim River , Perak . Perjalanan dari KL ke tempat ini memakan masa hampir dua jam menggunakan motosikal tapi hasilnya agak mengecewakan disebabkan tempat ini selekeh dan tidak terjaga.

Tempat ini mempunyai banyak potensi tapi bagi aku cara tempat ini dibangunkan menimbulkan seribu satu tanda tanya . Tak jauh dari tempat kolam air panas dibina satu kompleks jualan cenderamata , makanan dan tandas awam . Tapi yang menjadi tanda tanya ialah kenapa di bina suatu kompleks di kawasan yang berasingan dengan kawasan kolam air panas . Tarikan yang sebetulnya ialah kawasan kolam air panas dan bukannya 'KOMPLEKS AIR PANAS yang tiada punca air panas" masuk akal kan . Aku pasti kerajaan sudah mengeluarkan belanja yang mahal untuk membina kompleks ini tapi semuanya sia-sia jika kawasan punca air panas itu sendiri tidak terjaga dan kotor.

Satu lagi perkara yang aku nampak tak kena ialah tidak ada tempak yang sesuai untuk pengunjung hendak rendam kaki atau sebagainya . Punca mata air panas adalah terlalu panas untuk pengunjung melakukan aktiviti terapeutik , so sepatutnya di alirkan sedikit dari punca air panas kekawasan kolam yang dibina khas untuk pengunjung. This frog had unofficially been our family pet since we moved into our new house last year . My daughter had also grow fond of this frog and almost on a daily basis she would call out at this frog - "ffyogg!!!! fyog!!!! , macuk ler rumah , datang ler kat sini".Whenever our relative visits my house my daughter would enthusiastically show them her frog . The frog would be there at the same place night after night and it is only appropriate that i adopt this frog as my family pet , he he.
It had been a very2 busy week for me . I don't have time for myself lately , it's all about work and family . alhamdulillah, JR2 had been discharge from the hopsital and JR had slowly embrace the presence of his little sister . Raising 2 kids for me so far was very challenging , i wonder how my aunt who live in FELDA BENTONG(work as a rubber tapper) manage to successfully raise 7 of her kids . Out of the 7 , 6 of them university garduate , sssaaalluuttte!!!!! .

My youngest daughter had been admitted in a hospital since yesterday due to jaundice .At the same time her sister had a very high fever , her temperature just now was at 39.7 'c which was very high . I had brought JR to the hospital just now and after a blood test , the doctor diagnosed her as having a normal high fever . She just left the hospital with her grandparent while i stayed behind , spending the night at the hospital with my wife and JR2.Today i started working after a week long paternity leave . There are tonnes of works at the office that keep piling up during my absence .Couple this with problem back home, the stress level is extremely high and at times i feel like giving up.

I was once told that "there ain't no such thing as a free lunch".Nothing is free nowadays , even a cup of plain water could cost you as much as 30 cents but LEMAN DAWI had proven that there's such thing as free lunch.I was in seremban recently and decided to visit the oft-mentioned cendol paradise of LEMAN DAWI's.This place had been featured in MAJALAH 3 , JALAN2 CARI MAKAN and a few other program.

Honestly the cendol is just so-so but i must commend his effort and business acumen in promoting his cendol business.I guess the world would be a better place to live in if most businessmen follow his example , he he. What you need to do is just buy a bowl of cendol and the rest is free. Barley water , brown sugar , santan and cendol are free if you want to add-on . The more you buy , the more add-on free stuff that you'll get. In a world where you need money for almost everything , this place proves to be a good deal.

I was introduced to wagyu beef by my friend . I had heard about it quite some time now and i was told that it was the most expensive beef in the world . It cost between RM 600 to RM1000 per kg . With such a high price this beef must be extra special . Arriving at the LAS VACAS restaurant in Kelana Jaya an all too familiar smells permeates the air . A smell that i believe will convert most vegetarian to meat eaters , he he. I must confess that i'm not into steak but as i said in one of my entry earlier - i will try anything at least once . The texture of wagyu beef was truely unique , the meat was laced with layer upon layer of unsaturated fat and this layer of fats contributes to it soft texture and distinct unique flavour.The terms "melts in your mouth" applied here .

Our steak cost RM 600 per kg and we requested a thinner portion of the steak due to bugdet constrain , he he. The beef was grill with no additional flavours to preserve its distinct flavour and served with salad and bread.UUummppphh , aarrrggghhh EEerrrgghhh , i moaned while i munch my way through the thin steak and once in a while cursing to the fact that i should have ordered a bigger portion.Besides steak we also ordered beef wrap(a thin layer of beef wrapped with Cheese , carrot and long bean) as an appetizer.The steaks here is really something and i give a double thumbs up for this restaurants.

My wife is currently inside the OT room , doctor expect her to deliver in 4-5 hours time. . Today is day two in the hospital . I had left JR with my in law since yesterday and we are quite worried for JR as she had never been separated from us for this long . Surprisingly not a single tears was shed until today. She must be tougher than i think , i guess all those travelling since she was very young had made her like that , he he.

My inlaw visited us with JR and she was very excited to see mummy and ayah after two days . And being JR, she would whisk her mummy from her bed and at the same time trying to coax her ayah to go home . I had a hard time trying to fend off her request but a couple of FERERO ROCHER chocolates finally do the job.

Have you seen someone you love in pain? well this is the scenario that i'm in currently . My wife is in pain since yesterday and there's nothing much that i can do or offer to comfort her . It's time to sign off , i will be by her side for the whole process and it's really an experience to watch your wife giving birth to your daughter, an experience which will bring you great humility.

Today is my daughter 2nd birthday . We had organized a small birthday party for her atttended by all her cousin . I guess she was unaware that the event was actually for her , only after we sang Happy Birthday song that we could see her face gleaming with happiness. Kuching trip day 2

Our first destination after breakfast was SERIKIN , a malaysian-indonesian border town located nearly 40 km from kuching.Most people go to serikin to shop but for me the actual joy was the journey to serikin . There are alot of interesting places on the way to serikin , Pasar Bau , Gua Angin , Tasik Biru and the best among them is the stall by the native enroute to serikin .

Most people prefer would prefer shopping mall over market but shopping mall do not have character . You could learn a lot about people lifestyle just by visiting their market and that's why whenever i'm in overseas i will try as much as possible made a trip to their local market.

We only made a brief stop in serikin as most of the time was spent in the local market enroute . I was suprised how cheap things were , a bunch of banana only cost me RM 1 and bunga kantan 30 cents each . Another item which interest me the most was ULAT MULUNG which cost around 50 cents each . While most people would squirm at the sight of this , my daughter was excited and she spend the whole 10 minutes looking at it close range, he he.

From serikin we went to the kuching waterfront just to lepak and buy some souvenier. At night we have dinner with my wife cousin at one of seafood restaurant in DAMAI which was located around 40 minutes from kuching. Seafood in kuching is quite cheap , in KL a lobster will cost you around RM 150 to 250 per KG , in kuching on average it will cost you around RM75 per kg.My wife cousin had been living in Kuching for years now and we owe it to them for providing our transport in kuching.

Kuching trip - Day 1

Our TAIWAN trip late last year supposedly be our last holiday before my wife gave birth . Then we decided to go to Kenyir and Kuala Terengganu and we thought enough is enough. Not long after that we went to penang and we promise ourselves that it will be our last holiday . Then again almost '2 weeks later we found ourselves mysteriously being transported to Kuching Sarawak, he he.Again naturally we promised ourselves that this will be the last trip before my wife gave birth.

The decision to go to kuching was made at the very last minute(like all our trip , he he ) , 18 hours to be exact from the departure time.Initially we plan to go to langkawi but all the flight was full , instintively i bought a ticket to kuching without much thought. Actually kuching was like our second home , we had actually lost count on the number of time we had been there .We had been to all the recommended tourist attraction in kuching and outskirt . Our visit this time is more towards giving exposure to JR and of course mee kolok and laksa sarawak.

Our flight depart KLIA at 8.15 am and arrives 1 hour 30 minutes later . We stayed at the Four Point (sheraton) for two nights and i would say that it was the best 4 star hotel ever. The room and bathroom was spacious and breakfast was good.We decided not to rush things and we only made our way to kuching town around 3 pm. Our first stop was obviously for a laksa sarawak and mee kolok and then made our way to Kota Samarahan and then to buy some KEK lapis sarawak as a souvenier for our relatives. We ask around for the best kek lapis and they recommend KEK LAPIS MIRA compare to the famous KEK LAPIS DAYANG . Local people knows best and KEK LAPIS MIRA definitely have our thumbs up . Snow Crab @ South Sea Seafood

I would try anything at least once . The desire to try anything at least once had bring me to discover an array of experience which had made my life more interesting.Snow crab is one of them although it was a bit expensive at RM250 per kg. Again , i will try anything once and it could be a decade from now until i eat another snow crab again .

This special dinner was a treat from my wife and other than the snow crab , giant mantis prawn were among the special item that we ordered. The crab were fried with salted egg and it taste really good . The flesh was sweet and the texture was a bit coarse and less dense compare with mud crab and our local ketam bunga .Snow crab definitely taste bettter and i was told that it was imported from alaska. The snow crab was kept in a special aquarium with cold water to keep them alive .

Apart from snow crab , another special item on our table is giant mantis prawn . Some people would prefer lobster but for me mantis prawn definitely taste better. You could grilled it or deep fried it , either way it taste so damn good . The price of giant mantis prawn is almost as equivalent as a local lobster @ RM 150 per kg.

Di Pulau Pinang Buah Kelapa laut di kenali sebagai Buah Tai.Kalau di pulau pinang Buah kelapa laut memang banyak terutamanya di kawasan waterfall. Di sebelah KL buah kelapa laut biasanya jenis yang telah di proses untuk dijadikan minuman.Harganya sebiji ialah RM2.50 dan saiznya lebih kurang 6 cm diameter.Kulitnya bersabut seperti buah kelapa dan biasa terdapat dalam 4-5 ulas isi buah kelapa laut . Rasanya sedikit tawar tapi mungkin kebetulan aku dapat buah yang kurang manis.Kalau tanya orang KL buah kelapa laut macam mana , confirm tak tahu ler jawapannya.

Without a doubt , the best CUCUR UDANG in malaysia is in penang . Go anywhere and i bet that you can't find CUCUR UDANG which taste as good as you would find it here . Looks could be deceiving , first look at this stall near chowrasta market and you would have not imagine that it would house undoubtly the best cucur udang(pronounce as coq udang by locals) in town.

From my observation coq udang is a very simple dish to prepare , just a mixture of flour , prawn and taugeh in deep fried . I had tried it before back home and it had failed to produce the same taste and crunchiness which had made this dish so special . Writing about this entry is enough to make me drool.SSSllllluuurrrrpppp!!!!!!

My wife is expecting to deliver our second baby in two month time . I'm not sure on how things would be like with the presence of our second baby . At present JR is very jealous whenever her mum holds another baby .Whenever we told JR that baby will be coming very very soon to see her she would become agitated and sometime cried . We had try to overcome this issue by buying her present and telling her that it was a gift from her sister . This tactic seems to works at present but i'm still worried on how JR would react in the present of her new sister.

Penang Butterfly Farm

The last time that i had went to this place was nearly 17 years ago. The place still doesn't change a bit . It was still as i remember it 17 years ago .Jr was extremely excited and was screaming all the way.She was so excited in seeing all the butterfly within her reach that i had to control her from harming the little creature. I can't blame her as she was just inquisitive as always.

Penang butterfly farm was founded in 1986 by Mr David Goh.Besides being a tourist attraction its also serve as center for education and scientific research.The visitor to the butterfly farm will find themselves surrounded by by a myriad of fluttering butterfly within a natural setting . Besides butterfly there is also a small exhition on insect.

If you visit penang do not miss this place as there are very few places in the world who exhibit live butterfly.

Staying around the beach area especially during school holiday is very expensive while area around GEORGETOWN is very crowded. The next best option is EQUATORIAL or VISTANA , i choose the lattter one as it was more value for money.

Shaving as a form of relaxation tools

Stress level is at all time high . I need a break from work .Most people that i know would resort to sport as a mean to let off their steam. For me sport doesn't works (maybe partly because i'm not fit , he he).What i normally do when i stress out is to go for a shave in a barber shop near my house in sungai buloh.

For a fee of RM 5 ringgit , my favourite mamak (hmm... the word favourite doesn't sound right) would shave my face clean and at the same time he would do some light facial massage . I'm having difficulty manifesting the experience of being shave in words . Sometime i would doze off in the process and woke up feeling very fresh.I guess most guys would relate the same experience while being shave . But not all barber would produce the same relaxation effect . You really need a very skillful barber to produce the dozing effect and so far only 2 barbers that i know would be able to doze me off with their shaving skillls.

Well i guess i will be visiting my favourite MAMAK tomorrow (again, the word favourite seems odd).

Setelah sekian lama diberitahu tentang Kedai Sup yang menjual Sup Burung Unta, akhirnya aku berkesempatan menjejakkan kaki ke sana. Walaupun perjalanan agak jauh (kira2 2 jam memandu dari Sungai Buloh), itu tidak menjadi halangan untuk orang yang kaki xplorer seperti aku.

Kedai Sup ini terletak di Sungkai, kira-kira 50 meter sebelum simpang ke Bandar Sungkai. Tak begitu susah untuk mencari kedai ini, ianya terletak betul2 di tepi jalan utama (main road) dan nama kedai ini adalah MUS TOMYAM. Ketika tiba, kelihatan begitu ramai orang sedang menjamu selera dan daripada pandangan pertama - semestinya kedai ni famous dan menyediakan hidangan sup yang lazat.

Di sini mereka ada menyediakan 2 pilihan hidangan Sup Ostrich sama ada Sup Tulang Ostric ataupaun Sup Daging Ostrich. Jika berminat untuk merasa kelazatan daging Ostrich anda perlu ke sana pada setiap hari Rabu sahaja kerana MUS TOMYAM hanya menawarkan Sup Ostrich pada hari Rabu. Selain Sup Ostrich, MUS TOMYAM juga menawarkan hidangan sup yang lain seperti Sup Ayam, Sup Daging, Sup Udang, Sup Sayur, Sup Tulang dan etc. Semestinya, aku lebih berminat utk memesan Sup Daging Ostrich (RM7) dan Sup Daging Ostrich (RM8) (kebetulan aku ke sana pada hari Rabu).

Setelah menanti selama 45 minit, hidangan yang dipesan akhirnya tiba jua. Boleh dikatakan service mereka agak lambat . Rasa sup biasa sahaja , cuma daging ostrich sahaja yang memberikan kelainan.

Just came back from seeing an old friend in KLCC . We had dinner at a Korean Restaurant on the top floor of KLCC , i can't exactly remember the name of the restaurant but it was nice . Before my appointment with my friend i sat down in front of the fountain .I used to sit in the same spot jobless and worried about my future . Rummaging through the crowd i guess i could sense one or two patron whose facial expression foretold the same story . Been there done that - the best advise that i could offer them .

Life could be cruel at times but not all the time . Whatever shortcomings might hold a revealations to whom who seek to find answers .Just hang on , pull your head straight and face your problem head on.

Photography had been my hobby since i was a small kid. Back then my father can't afford to buy me expensive camera . The first camera that i had own is the KODAK compact camera which my father had bought me when i'm in standard 5 . My father would not simply buy me presents without any valid reason , he bought the camera because i had achieve his target and excel in my study . Although i had own a camera but i had seldom used it because to develop the film is quite expensive and i will always used it only on special occcasion.

My daughter had shown her interest in photography as well . For example during the shot above , she will try to imitate my all my action . It was very obvious in the last picture. I had lay flat on the floor try to get the best possible angle and she would do the same too.I would really hope photography would be her hobby when she grow up a bit older . It's easier to bond if we share the same interest.

Sebenarnya dah lama aku mencari siput KEMUDI ni . Kali terakhir aku makan siput ini ialah hampir 18 tahun sudah semasa aku masih tinggal di pulau pinang . Dulu pun memang susah nak jumpa siput jenis ni , apatah lagi pada zaman sekarang .Aku tak pasti samaada siput jenis ini hampir pupus ataupun permintaan untuk siput jenis ini kurang lantaran usaha pengumpulan siput jenis ini amat kurang.

Entah macam mana hari ini tergerak hati hendak ke pantai remis . Dari jauh aku dah cam sangat siput kemudi dan dalam hati aku melonjak gembira sebab memang dah lama sangat dah mengidam siput ni . Harga seekor RM 2 dan aku rasa harga ini memang berpatutan . Mengikut penjual , dah lama dia tak mendapat bekalan siput jenis ni , dan bekalan siput yang dia ada pun terhad.

Saiz siput ini sebenarnya agak besar iaitu lebih kurang 25 cm panjang . Bagi aku cara yang paling sedap untuk masak siput ini ialah dengan membakarnya diatas api . Selain daripada itu , masak lada ataupun jintan pun sedap jugak . Isinya agak manis dan sedikit liat tapi secara keseluruhannya siput ini memang sedap walaupun jika hanya di kukus tanpa letak apa-apa perasa tambahan .

Mee Bandung is a must whenever you're in MUAR , Johor.The problem is in finding the best mee bandung in town . Mee bandung is almost everywhere in Muar and i could say that it had became an icon here . The quest for the best food had taken me all over malaysia and sometime i would drive daytrip hundred of kilometer just to sample the best street food .

I was on my way to xplore MUAR when one of my blogging friend (CATZ) suggested this restaurant . I had sampled a few mee bandung stall at Muar previously and so far this is the best . The gravy is thick with a heavy taste of prawn.Just puurrfffeeccttt!!!!.I was quite suprised that it only cost me RM 3.50 for a bowl of mee bandung which taste so good. Living in KL a bowl of mee bandung would normally cost you RM5++. Kalau dah makan mee bandung tu , kenalah makan sirap bandung plak , baru ada karma he he.

Memancing haruan & puyu di tali air

Cuaca hari ini memang terik . Kalau ikut plan asal hendak mula pancing awal sedikit dalam pukul 3 petang tadi . Disebabkan cuaca amat terik hari ni aku terpaksa lewatkan sedikit rancangan untuk pancing.Mula-mula terdapat sedikit masalah sebab banyak kedai-kedai pancing kehabisan umpan cacing dan cengkerik , nasib baik last minit jumpa kedai yang jual cengkerik . Itupun tingggal sikit saja cengkerik.

Lebih kurang dalam pukul 5.30 petang baru tiba ke destinasi pancing , iaitu sebuah tali air di kawasan jeram, kuala selangor. Air di tali air adalah sangat jernih tapi dah surut sikit disebabkan cuaca panas.Aku dengan ayahku cuma sempat pancing selama 1 jam saja dan kami berjaya menangkap sekor ikan haruan dan ikan puyu . Kat tempat ni banyak ikan puyu tapi umpan tak berapa sesuai . Tapi takpa port ikan puyu dah jumpa , next time aku akan bawa umpan yang sesuai untuk tangkap ikan puyu.Ikan yang aku tangkap petang tadi kesemuanya di lepaskan di dalam kolam ikan kat rumah untuk proses penggemukan sebelum di goreng di dalam jangkamasa 5-6 bulan lagi , he he.

Trip to penang via Train - 1st class sleeper coach

I must confess , i'm a train buff.I dream of travelling via the trans siberean railways and the famous canadian rocky railways.I had travel extensively via train in thailand previously and i really wish that i could have the time to travel all the way to china by rail . I know people who had done it and i'm very confident that i can do it but time is the deterrent factor .

Recently me and my wife travelled from KL to penang via train in a 1st class sleeper coach . This was the first time that we had travel in a first class sleeper coach . Actually there was nothing much to see if you travel at night but the rocking motion of the train made your sleeping more comfortable than usual . I end up waking up feeling very fresh and relax.

The cabin was not very big but it was very comfortable and i was told the night sleeper cabin for train heading to singapore was a bit bigger with its own small toilet and shower .

In 2 month time JR will be 2 years old . Sometime i wish she will always be daddy little girl . When she grows up i will definitely miss those hugs and kisses that she used to give me unconditionally . She will be too preoccupied with her life issues and if god willing her own family and children . I guess there will come a time in the future where i will have to let go of her.I do hope that she will not forget what mummy and daddy had done for her and in turn take good care of mummy and daddy. Love you always.

Ahh!!! damn , my chinese new year leave will come to an end in a few hours time . The time now is 1040pm and in around 10 hours time i will find myself back to the office enduring another stressful moment . I guess everybody will have to endure stressful situation at their office at one point of their career . Enduring and surviving a stressful situation like this if manage well will lead to character building and i do hope that i will learn something from it.

Sungai Kedondong , Batang kali , Selangor

I was alone at home today as my wife had went to shah alam for shopping . She preferred that i didn't tag along as i would spoiled her shopping spree, he he . The definition of shooping for me is to buy things ASAP and buy things that you only need . The whole process must be done in less than an hour, i repeat - less THAN ONE HOUR!!!. I guess the last statement was the real reason why i was not my wife preferred partner in shopping as i will nag her and the whole shopping escapade will end in less than one hour.

With nothing to do at home i decided to explore the area around batang kali with my bike as i had heard about a popular picnic area along the genting highland - batang kali road.The traffic was smooth from my house as today was Chinese new year , The road was a bit windy and excellent for biking . There was no signboard to direct you to this area but you can't missed it as it was crowded most of the time . I had come at the wrong timing as the area was too crowded . Actually the area was not that far away from hulu yam (another picnic area) and it was a bit unique in its own way . Hulu yam area is a bit flat while sg kedondong flows from a hilly area which makes the water flows a bit faster and a bit dangerous for small kids.Personally i prefer Hulu Yam compare to this area but this place is not bad either.

Le Tour De Langkawi

I took the day off today just to do photo hunting with my mate on the Le Tour De Langkawi . We waited patiently for about one hour at the Puncak Alam - Bukit jelutong stretch . At about 1.30 pm the whole convoi came wheezing pass through us . The weather was exceptionally hot and i salute the cyclist for braving the scroching midday sun . I had never thought that human could cycle that fast and in no time all of them had passed through us . If i'm not mistaken today shall be the final leg of this event with the final destination at Dataran Merdeka.

Udang Masak microwave

Rasa macam tak kena pulak tajuk entry aku kali ni . Selalunya udang masak cili atau udang masak kunyit , tapi udang masak microwave tu macam mana pulak. Cara masak udang macam ni sebenarnya ialah cara yang paling senang dan bagi aku yang paling sedap untuk masak udang . Sebenarnya cara memasak macam ni dapat mengekalkan rasa asli udang tersebut . Kalau kita tanya orang jepun kenapa diaorang suka makan ikan mentah , diaorg akan jawab yang memasak akan menghancurkan rasa asli ikan tersebut .

kalau nak masak udang dengan cara yang begini sila pastikan udang yang dipilih segar . Masukkan kedalam microwave dan guna setting medium high selama 3.5 minit .Pastikan setting jangan terlalu tinggi dan masa jangan terlalu lama kalau tidak udang tersebut akan kering . Kalau ada bekas microwave yang berpenutup lebih baik sebab boleh pastikan kelembapan udang tak hilang . Memang sedap kalau buat macam ni sebab isi udang secara semula jadi memang manis dan tak perlu letak apa-apa perasa.

Tahun ni rasanya jumlah pelancong makin bertambah di batu caves. Photographer pun makin ramai tak macam dulu . Sempat masuk sampai ke kaki bukit saja sebab orang terlalu ramai . Akan cuba lagi tahun depan sebab teringin nak tahu apa yang berlaku di dalam gua batu caves semasa waktu thaipusam.

The main reason for creating SUKA JALAN-JALAN is to immortalised the memory of my life and my travel from being lost . I have trouble memorising name , date , address and small details . For example , the only phone number that i remember was my wife phone number , other than that is blank . Whenever i left my handphone behind and i need to call my father , i will always call my wife first to ask her the number and then only will i call my father.

Chiang Mai was our first overseas trip as husband and wife . We went there for our honeymoon and it was partly sponsored by my father . I can't remember the hotel name but i do remember that it was located next to the night market and next to the craft plaza. We went there in december and the temperature was a bit cool at 24Ç . I had travel extensively throughout thailand by land and for me chiang mai is the best. It had the subtlety of being a tourist magnet without having too much publicity. What we love about chiang mai is the night market and the cool weather , especially in december . Our hotel is located next to starbucks and the nightmarket and we would spent the night 'lepak' at the starbuck while immersing ourselves in the night market atmosphere . It feels like a street cafe in Paris with the residual noise of "aroi" and "sawadee kap" in the back ground.

From the airport we had chartered a taxi for sightseeing . I can't remember how much but if i'm not mistaken it was around 700 baht per day . Among the places that we visit is the elephant farm , chiang mai zoo ,queen sirikit botanical garden , traditional umbrella factory and other area around chiang mai which i had forgotten its name.

I still remember our first day dinner in chiang mai , we had grilled lobster and tom yum gung.It was quite cheap at around 900 baht and it was the best tom yum gung which we had ever tasted so far. Chiang Mai is famous for its dried longan and most of the supply of longan in thailand comes from chiang mai.

We would like to go chiang mai again and I do recommend chiang mai to all due to its uniqueness.
